D.A.S.S.
(Domestic Abuse Support Service)
High Peak & Derbyshire Dales
We provide a confidential service for people who suffer domestic abuse or whose
children are being abused. We can offer advice, information, personal referral
to other agencies, support and access to emergency transport to any person who
is being abused by a partner or has been abused in the past and is still being
affected by the experience.
Firstly we will always listen and believe a person's experience of abuse, we do not ask for proof and we do not judge people. We can be someone to talk to in confidence - someone who understands. We will not tell you what to do, we will talk through your options.
We are able to offer practical advice on issues that concern domestic abuse, such as welfare rights, the law, individual safety planning, children, housing and support groups.
We recognise how difficult it is to live in an abusive relationship and how frightening
the prospect of trying to change things can be, especially leaving.
All support workers receive extensive training and are skilled at listening
and supporting people who are experiencing domestic abuse. All workers are individually
supported by the Domestic Violence Service Coordinator.
